1. Who we are
Zed Speak is a cultural organization creating new and meaningful ways for people to experience, preserve and reimagine Zambian culture. For questions about this policy or your personal information, contact us at hello@zedspeak.com.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Your email address when you subscribe to eKalata or request your Culture Type Quiz result.
- Your quiz result or culture type so we can send the requested result.
- Your name, contact details and anything you choose to share when you email us, submit a story, photograph, memory or perspective, register for an activity, or contact us about a product or collaboration.
- Basic technical information needed to operate and protect the website, such as request records and security logs.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Send your Culture Type Quiz result.
- Send eKalata, generally once a month, including cultural stories, updates and invitations.
- Respond to enquiries, story submissions and collaboration requests.
- Manage registrations, products, events or Culture Labs where relevant.
- Maintain, secure and improve the website and our communications.
4. Quiz and newsletter subscription
When you enter your email to receive a Culture Type Quiz result, you also join eKalata. This is explained beside the email field before you submit it. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or by contacting us.
5. Brevo and other service providers
We use Brevo to manage subscribers and send emails. Your email address may therefore be transferred to and processed by Brevo on our behalf. We may also use trusted website hosting, file-storage and email providers where necessary to operate Zed Speak. These providers may process information outside Zambia and are expected to protect it and use it only for the services they provide to us.
6. Story, photograph and creative submissions
Information you send for possible publication will not automatically be published. We may contact you to discuss editing, attribution and permission before using your contribution. Please do not submit another person’s private information, photograph or creative work unless you have permission to share it.
7. How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate records, or to meet legal obligations. Newsletter information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, subject to limited records needed to respect your opt-out.
8. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect personal information. However, no website, email system or online storage service can guarantee complete security.
9. Your choices and rights
You may ask us to:
- Confirm whether we hold personal information about you.
- Provide access to, correct or update your information.
- Delete information we no longer need to retain.
- Stop sending you marketing communications.
- Explain how your information has been used.

10. Cookies
We do not currently use advertising cookies on the public website. Essential technologies may be used where required for website security, administration and basic operation. If we introduce analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and provide appropriate notice or choices.
11. Children’s information
Our public cultural content may be enjoyed by different age groups, but children should not submit personal information, stories or photographs without the involvement and permission of a parent, guardian or responsible adult.

We may update this policy as our website and activities develop. The latest version and its effective date will always appear on this page.
